We’ve always thought of Spain’s Ibiza as a party island but the more we research, it seems idyllic for a family trip, too. With its rich history, great food, markets, whitewashed villages, beautiful beaches, free-spirited vibes and a bohemian lifestyle, the Balearic Isle is a favourite destination for photographer Jodi Plumbley, her partner Grant and their adorable bebe Lila, three. The Ibiza regulars have kindy shared their locals’ insights and tips with The Travelling Tribe for those travelling to Ibiza with their kids in tow. Gracias, Jodi!
There’s nothing better than slow travel. While we all went from monument to monument and country-to-country trying to tick every sight and attraction off our list in our late teens and twenties, slowing it down and really exploring and enjoying all of the natural attributes a place has to offer is very appealing now we have the kids in tow. We spoke to the ladies from Whole Beings, a holistic education studio at Tugun on Queensland’s Gold Coast, and asked them for tips on using nature for play while travelling with kids.
We’ve long followed the career of artist Mia Taninaka and her adventures with her man Jasson Salisbury and their son Ziggy. The trio recently visited the Philippines before the birth of their second little boy, Taro, for one last holiday as a family of three. The family spent their time chilling in hammocks, watching the sunset, canoeing, swimming until dark, laughing, eating plenty of mangoes, drinking coconuts and exploring all of the natural beauty the Philippines has to offer. Mia shares her experience with The Travelling Tribe.
Just 20 minutes south of Queensland’s Gold Coast and 30 minutes north of Byron Bay, you’ll find the sleepy coastal village of Kingscliff. The town is home to some really good dining options, one stunning swimming creek, uncrowded beaches and boutique shopping but still has a charming laidback coastal vibe if you want to escape the crowds in Byron. We spoke to the delightful Emma Henderson, co-founder and creative director of The Beach People, who lives at Kingscliff with her husband Josh and their three girls, Daisy, Lulu and Fern. Emma kindly shared her local’s tips and favourite haunts for those looking for a weekend beach escape or a chilled family holiday with their tribe.
When it comes to adventurous, fun-loving families who know how to get out and live life to the fullest, April Munro and her man Luke come to mind. This Gold Coast-based couple, with their adorable bebes Scout and Marlin in tow, have travelled to some pretty darn incredible places in Australia.
For those lucky enough to be counting down to their upcoming European summer adventure, we have interviewed the gorgeous mama of two [and one on the way] Aimee Oliver about her trip to Greece, Croatia, France, Italy's Amalfi Coast, Spain and, yep now you'll be really jealous, Paris, with her hubby Ryan and bebes Sol, 3, and two-year-old Zsa Zsa. Here's what she had to share with us.
Beautiful mama of three boys - Justice, 5, Noah, 4, and six-month-old Atlas - Lori Jai Harding and her man Matt have been travelling through Sri Lanka. She shared their experience at the Udawalawe National Park with The Travelling Tribe.
It's obvious we love a weekend away in fact, road trips, camping trips, farm stays, beach shack jaunts, overseas vacays - yep we love it all! But we have to say, we had one of the best weekends with our tribes recently at the Blue Dolphin Yamba.
We chatted to Winona Bailey - mumma, wife and traveller originally from Vancouver Island and currently based on the beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii. Winona, who hails from Vancouver Island, and her man Jason are raising their twin boys, Cass + Marlow, on Kauai but previously lived in Mexico and a bunch of other places in Canada and the U.S.
